Micron Camera Calibration
Psych 221 Project

Introduction

Digital cameras have become ever popular in the past decade. In addition to the stand alone cameras, mobile phones with digital camera are of common place these days. Different brands and models have flooded the consumer market and are competing on different features. It is interesting to measure the different characteristics of a digital camera and be able to simulate it with software package. This enables us to compare different digital cameras and perform experiments not possible in real world situation.

In this project we will calibrate Micron MT9P031 Demo Head, measuring its optical, spectral, and noise characteristics. We will then use these measurements to simulate the performance of the camera using Matlab ISET software package. Once we have the simulated image, we will compare the color appearance in the simulated image with the one in the acquired real image, using delta metric. We will also compare our simulation with the Nokia N95 simulation that is performed by another group in the class.
